If your IP is blacklisted, you might experience email delivery problems, blocked website access, or CAPTCHA challenges. Here's why it happens and how to fix it.
Common Reasons for Blacklisting
- Previous owner of the IP sent spam
- A device on your network is infected with malware
- Your email server is misconfigured (open relay)
- You're on a shared IP with bad actors (hosting, VPN)
- Your ISP assigned you a previously flagged IP
Step 1: Identify the Problem
Use our Blacklist Check tool to see which blacklists you're on. Each blacklist has different criteria and delisting procedures.
Step 2: Fix the Root Cause
- Run antivirus/malware scans on all devices
- Check for open relays on mail servers
- Secure any compromised accounts
- Update all software and firmware
Step 3: Request Delisting
Visit each blacklist's website and follow their delisting procedure. Most have self-service removal forms. Some auto-delist after 24-48 hours if no new abuse is detected.
Don't request delisting until you've fixed the underlying problem. Repeated listings can result in permanent blocks.
